1.8cm thick tiles?

I've been looking at some more stone for another project - looking at travertine again, i've found some that are 300x600 honed, filled and polished but they're 18mm thick which seems thicker than average - i won't state actual prices as i'm not sure on the policy on that, but they come in around 50% more than the 12.5mm tiles i've sourced previously - is the extra thickness worth it?

it does depend on what they are bieng used for imo.

If in budget and for a floor, you don't get much better, but overkill for walls for the extra expense.

I'll dig out the pics, it was mainly because they were a good price, but they only had 10mm or 18mm and the thinner one sounded a bit on the thin side.

Thin doesn't make any difference if laid correctly can be 5mm thick as long as they can be handled without braking ete

lol, i'm a simpleton so always think bigger is better

As already mentioned a solid bed is the key... but for exterior use thicker can be better.. i have seen 38mm thick travertine pavers.

As for your installation.. as long as they are of a good grade then 12mm etc will be fine..
