Can you help with a DIY tiling dilemma?
I want to tile my kitchen with 100mm tiles.
The window sill is about 112mm above the worktop, which leaves a small gap. It appears to be too big to fill with grout and too small to cut tile. What would look best? I have two ideas but maybe you have others? I could either cut a tile in half and cut another at about 58mm (allowing for grout) or cut two equal pieces about 54mm each so that grout line is central. The first option is less wasteful of tiles.
Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
In case you need to know, the cupboards are 525mm above worktop.
Thanks in advance
Pete

You could also increase the cill height with a piece if plasterboard if you have sufficient room in the frame thickness......this will give you a bigger cut...i think it looks better with full tile off the worktop......

good luck...

Good point Dave,i would do the sameI have done a few with half cuts around base but a full def looks better,i done one today and the sill was 140mm up so it got a 38mm cut beacause the frame was lowish.

i would do the same too if it was an option. If not a 10 mm cut would be easy enough to cut.
At the extreme end you could fix the tiles diagonally, one problem solved but would create a headache in other ways. :mad2:

I'm just a DIYer! so although the diagonal option sounds interesting it's probably not within my capabilities!
The plasterboard sounds good though, I'll measure up over the weekend.
If not, then I think I'll go with the 10mm cut. I hadn't considered it, but as you say a full tile off the worktop would look better than a grout joint half way up.
Thanks:thumbsup:
Really helpful replies
