Have been asked to do a splashback for someone just under 3sqm. They have the tiles so ive just to get the adhesive would bal green star do the job or would it be good enough to get the homebase ready mixed ?. Tiles are 150mm. Hope it goes ok managed my floor and thats turned out ok. Does anybody need any help in the Edinburgh area for free just so i can pick up more tips done a week course so far. Really fancy getting into it for extra cash and if it pays off then all the better.

If the walls are flat and no deviations greater than +/- 3mm then ye it is fine....

Also what wall substrate is it.?

when i went to see it, it was back to the brick so need to check what he has done. he says its all ready to go

Not really, just there is a drying time for bond/skim

But quite a few tilers like to use bagged adhesives over the tubbed dispersion types..

If your just starting out I would recommend using the tubbed adhesive opposed to the bagged for this job as you can take more time and not have to rush in fear of the addy going off in the bucket :lol:.

Just take your time and don't rush,experience is priceless :smilewinkgrin:

The use of slow setting adhesive can be used.. many adhesive comps make slow setting bagged adhesives.

Dont know if i can ask the question on here as i have seen a few no no posts re what people charge. But for somebdy like me what should i be asking for not doing as a freebie

Well off to have a crack at this job in the morning. Only really near a homebase or bq the walls have been bonded and skimmed last week so plenty time to dry. will this stuff do the trick:

UniBond Waterproof Adhesive - Standard from Homebase.co.uk

i wouldn't use that on anything other than a kitchen splashback. it's a dispersion adhesive so if it gets wet it will go soft again. use bagged (cement based) adhesives. you can get them at b and q. and if it's a shower/wet area you should think about tanking the walls

If its bonded and skimmed it should usually be left upto 3 - 6 weeks to dry completely! A skim coat on plasterboard can be done once dry usually a week depending on conditions. Make sure that PVA is used on the walls prior to tiling.
