I will be passing through London early Wednesday morning on my way to start the job in Sittingbourne. It would be interesting to see the face that writes the posts. What time does your office open?

8am dazed and confused normally at that time of the day, on Wednesday I think I will in Marlow, with me mate PJC whose popping in for a cupppa tea, or I can leave them at the office in central London, which do you prefer?

I only use wedges, I am also tight. I count my wedges before and after, to make sure no one has nicked any.

Its funny you should say that john, i know a tiling firm that still uses matchsticks! only for floors. it was like going back in time, they used to laugh at me for using a rubber mallet to get the floor tiles flat (60x60 porc.)

You could use them on the old Quarries but when Ceramic floor tiles were in fashion (ie before these Porcelain) I tended to break too many with the heavy hand tactics.
I think mine has perished in the store now so might have to buy a new one!

I can remember talking to an old tiler who used string or some kind of line for spacing , you ever heard of that or is it a shaggy dog story??

Andy - I've still got my chalk lines, red,white and blue chalk - but also my Dewalt 90degree laser level.!!!
When I first started wall and floor tiles were still fixed with sand/cement and tiling was a sideline for brickies so the tools were the same.
Tiles had to be soaked in barrels of water before they could be fixed and a water level was in every tool kit.
Now all we have to do is open a bag and keep a straight line - its great!
