Hi,

Just looking to attempt my first job as an amateur and was looking for some advice.

How do you fix the tile baton to a concrete floor

Does smooth concrete need roughed up and primed to allow adhesive to bond correctly?

Any advice appreciated

Why do you want to fix a batten to the floor, battens are used on walls to counter the force of gravity, obviously this is irrelevant on a floor. If you want to use some kind of straight edge as a guide for your floor tiles then I would avoid using timber as it won't be straight, use a 1.8 level and stick a few stacks of tiles on it to hold in place

I find a plug and a screw usually work best though.
But can't really see a need to batten a floor. Are you building some kind of false wall or something?
Why do you want to fit a batten?

I take it your talking about a screed rather than concrete....
