Howdy,

Another few random questions :dizzy2:

  1. Should I use Silicon on all corners of my bathroom (ceiling, corners, bottom where wall tile meets floor) ?
  2. When using Silicon, I heard (on here) that I should use fairy liquid? - Can someone please explain this?
  3. Where is it best to start from, Very bottom (near the floor tile), middle etc? I am going to be making everything uniform, but just need pointers as where to start.
  4. I will be tiling against the bath. (The bath is flush against the wall with some sealant), do I have the tile sit on the bath and use Silicon after?
Thanks as always guys!

  1. silicon all corners where tile meets tile and round the floor. I prefer to use decorators caulk along the ceiling line tho
  2. fairy liquid acts like a lubricant and stops silicon sticking to your finger
  3. I tend to start from the bottom and go upbanks, remember to "pull" and not "push"
  4. keep the tiles about 2-3mm above the bath and run a bead of silicon in the gap
hope this helps:thumbsup:

And just to add, if you have never used Silicon before then practice somewhere first, its not like decorators chaulk, once you apply it around your bath you have to get it right otherwise it will make a good tiling job look like a pigs ear.
I have been using it for 20 years, if your not confident why not use cornertape so that you do get it right.

Hi DIYD,, if your confident with Silicon then as has been said, apply a nice bead to size making sure there are no gaps, then using a spray bottle such as gardeners use, spray / mist a water / washing up liquid mix over the silicon and surrounding tiles, the Silicon will not stick to anything then, but the bead does need to be right first time.

If your not confident, search for Cornertape on here and youtube, have a watch and see, fantastic piece of kit.

How many of you guys have actually tried corner tape.?

Is it easy to stick down in the right place.?

I use my fugen tools now and good ole fairy liquid diluted.

Gone are my days of finger and saliva. ewwwww....

Good point made earlier about filling bath with water before final Silicon applied. especially if its an acrylic bath.

Chin chin all.
