A place in the Country

when I got my first shotgun at 18 I went out with my brother and came back with a couple of rabbits. I skinned them, cleaned them and gave them to my mum who made a casserole. Afterwards everyone thought it was good but it tasted slightly odd. When the pot was washed later quite a lot of droppings were found at the bottom of it. I don't think I cleaned them as well as I thought.

doing a stew this weekend, venison (no ?'s asked lol)), pheasant, rabbit. ( and if my hens don't stop molting, they may go in the stew too!)

How long you hang pheasants, Doug? I've had it after three weeks hanging so they almost glow in the dark. Painful to eat but strangly satisfying. I reckon two weeks is about right.

we used to stuff the pheasants with barley cooked up and mixed with roasted bacon and shallots n garlic then cook them off.....lushhh

chef at local gastro pub asked how I liked vension....."antlers off and bum wiped" was my reply...."That'll be rare then Sir" was his reply!
