hi all, i am interested in embarking a new career move in the tiling industry. i have done my own kitchen on my own, and this was done with no tuition experiance ect.this was done a couple of years ago, and at the time i didnt even know this site existed. those that have seen my work were well impressed with it, including er indoors, and thats a difficult task in itself! i think i had better upload a pic of my work on here ! as i understand it there are several reputable tiling places to attend. i assume the yorks. one at bradford is the nearest one to me, or is there one any closer to me as i live in grimsby. i also understand that the best course is i believe a two week jobbie. do you all still think it will be still worth it for me to take the plunge, in this recent down turn of expensive cost of living, as things are getting a tad on the bad side to say the least, thus effecting the whole building/construction trades. i for one simply have to move on to a new career as my present job is showing signs of sinking. would i be best off being self employed. i have come from a sales type background, but am very good with my hands!
i am looking for good pointers and direction in this type of work, knowing that i can do it!

Hi John
I am in the same situation and undecided which training course to attend and what length of course will be the most beneficial. Some people have said a four day course, other people say a ten day course and others say a minimum of four weeks. I think it depends which forum you look on and which training provider runs the forum and what length of course they run.

This forum isn't run by a tiling school .. we are sponsored by more than one training school but also we allow feedback from loads of different training schools..just check out the feedback forum and if a training school is not in there then that's purely down to now one leaving feedback for it yet.......we are totally independent from any training centres......

cheers dave,
it just goes to show its an absolute minefield out there, if you dont watch what your doing. judging from that last bit of info on your link dave, i guess there will be a few people pi$$ed off at finding that out! honesty works wonders whatever walk in life you do.......the big plus in that is i believe you will always succeed, being dishonest will give you no comeback in anything!
