hi all,i have a job im starting tomorrow and the 3 bathrooms we are doing ive just found out the customer wants access panels made on the bath surrounds,,tiles are 600 by 300 porcelain 12mm thickwould it be best to use a whole tile as the panel at tap end of bath or a cut? was going to drill 4 holes in corners and attach sponge at back of 4 cornersto flex up when its installedthen screw it onto backerboardsand finish with chrome caps would this be correct? also would i grout it or Silicon round it??:stupid::grin: cheers

Magnetic closures are the best way to go.
the disappearing access hole.
I have done a bunch of them and they have all been magnetic.
That way you don't need sponge to flush up the tile as the magnets are installer adjustable and you can set the tile anywhere you like.
Allow a small lip of backer around the edge, no more than 1/4 inch and grout as normal.
If the tile is of the delicate nature then add a layer of material on the back for reinforcement.
