Addy for 300 x 200 x 6mm ceramic

Would Bal Whitestar be ok for 300 x 200 x 6mm ceramic on new plasterboard. I thought a cement based might be a bit over-kill. Thanks Ryan

yes it would be ok but cement based is better and would be the pros choice.

hello ryan,i dont normally use tubbed gear for anything anymore but i used to use it for tiles up to 300 by 300 max,im sure it will be fine for that size tile just bare in mind you cant pack out with the tubbed adhesive and it will take longer to dry

where are you tiling? if in bathroom i'd tank the shower area first otherwise you'll be ok.

Yes it's a bathroom all new plaster board I'm going to tank shower area. I've no problem using a cement based just thought it might be a bit quicker using tubbed gear. Not trying to cutr corners jst make the best decision for the job.

ok leave it to dry for atleast three days before grouting then leave for a week before using shower, the data sheet says 2 weeks, using bath will be ok after 24 hours imo.

better check that tubbed adhesive is suitable for going onto tanking im not convinced it is

tubbed addy is not suitable for use over tanking (or in a shower area), stick to the cement based powder addy.

Id go with a powder addy, might take a bit more time to knock up but it will be the best way to do it, if your going to do it, might as well do it the best you can.

White star is fine over tanking but you should leave for at least three days before you grout as the water in the dispertion addy can only get drawn out via the grout joints and not dispersed via the tanked walls. I'm 90% cement based, but on small tiles on plasterboard i'd be tempted with tubbed. Having said that, if you want to get it grouted ASAP then i'd be using bagged.

Use Bagged Adhesive. It sticks much better, is more reliable and you can build up as you need to without worrying.

Just don't get a rapid set. You need a slow set one. Despite what the Weber rep told me, Weber fast set sets too fast.

I used a tubbed adhesive on a wet room I did a couple of years ago. When I had to replace a tile I noticed had cracked (cheap B&Q rubbish) I went to remove it. I was quite shocked at how easy it came off 2 days after putting it on!

I had a part bag of SPF left over from the floors so I used that to put another tile in its place.
