Hi Guy's

There is a huge ammount of info on here ref adhesives etc and my mind is buzzing already!!! Can you offer advice on best options for adhesive and grout?

I've got 22 sq mtr of ceramic wall and floor tiles to fit in what is going to be a shower room (not a wet room) Tiles are 12"X18" and 8mm thick ( in a light Beige). Two walls are plasterboard with a skim of fresh plaster, Walls where the shower cubicle will be is covered by aquapanel boards and the floor is going to be 25mm marine grade ply.

Any help/advice will be much appreciated

Regards

Gordon.

kerraquick flexi for floor...mapei rapidset for walls as the tiles are over 300x300.Mapei ultracolour grout is excellent to work with..just follow the instructions.Mix small amounts at a time if you are finding it difficult or use a slower setting adhesive like mapei keraflex maxi which has an open time of 8hrs .

Make sure you give the plaster a few weeks to dry out, scew floor down with 25mm turbo screws at 250 centres.

Cheers for the info guy's,

would you believe that a local tile store has told me to steer away from powder/cement based products and use a pre mixed tub adhesive. Pretty well goes against everything that i have read on this forum.

Just a case now of finding a supplier nearby for Mapei or does anyone know of any reasonable suppliers who will ship?

Regards

Gordon

I'm located in the deep south!! Weymouth in dorset.

I see that Screwfix are doing Keraflex (5kg) at just over £40.00 for six bags, by the time i stick some primer on there, I should be up for free delivery.

I see that they only do the quick set Mapei grout, would the general opinion be to go for the normal ultracolour one?

All the best

Gordon.

Hi Gordon......

If you have a Tile giant or Tile it all near you they sell Mapei......

I would advise that you use the Mapei P9 for the wall adhesive, 8 hr bucket life But you can grout walls after 3 to 4 hrs if on minimum adhesive bed or next day if prefered, but will give you much more time to work with it than rapid setting adhesive.

If you cannot access a Tile giant or Tile it all then Mapei can be bought at B&Q , it's called Buildfix at B&Q...
