speaking to the fixer first would be a better way than going through a small claims court. this can be a very tiresome and stressful option having once taken a tradesman through it ( he then declared bankruptcy and i ended up with nothing anyway).speak to him about the problems if he is reputable he will want to sort something for you.if he's not then i would speak to citizens advice first about your options.

had he given a written gurantee it might have been different many people i know will not gurantee work for more than 3 years tops im not defending his poor workmanship as spot fixing is as bad as it gets

its a bit late after 5 yrs imo there are probably 1000's of jobs dotted and dabbed and it sounds as though you wouldn't have known unless you hadn't lifted the tiles are there any other problems?
