adhesive for granite wall tiles

Evening all

Looking for some advice. Got a probable job. Customer wants 45mm x 45mm granite tiles on the walls. Which adhesive is best to use ? Also, she has a mosaic border for the halfway point in the wall, is it best to tile up to and inc height of border, then continue the next day ? third and final query, will i encounter many issues trying to cut the tiles with a dry cutter or is it best to use a wet cutter ?

Hi. Walls are plaster. Same tiles going on to floor. I was going to lay 9mm ply on to mdf floor then apply pva, would this thickness of ply be enough ans would pva be suitable ?

No way are those tiles going on a plaster wall, there far to heavy...probably about 32kg m2 whereas plaster takes about 20kg m2...

As above too heavy for plaster and 9mm ply too thin, 15mm minimum.

Hi.

What would you guys recommend ? To be honest my gut instinct was to give it a swerve as i had a feeling it could turn into a nightmare. The tiles are huge and they are at least 12mm thick. Would the customer need to get the walls sheeted with plaster board ? and if so what would be the min depth ? Also what would be best to prime the floor.

I'm sorry to say this Lee, but you need to follow your gut instinct.
Being totally honest with you, I think you will get yourself into so much difficulty that it could knock your confidence for your future tiling career.

The tiles are far too heavy for plastered walls and plasterboard is not strong enough either. Your best option would be to mechanically fix cement boards to the walls.
The floor will need serious preparation too prior to tiling.

My advice would be to try and find an experienced local tiler that is prepared to do the job and allow you to assist / learn from it.

And as per Sir Ramic, step away from the PVA, it has no place in tiling!

Lee, you really need to take on board what Daz has said. Oh and a dry cutter won't cut granite....

Priming ply depends on on the chosen adhesive. Some manufacturers recommend not priming the ply, some do. You will need to read the specs from your chosen manufacturer.
