I agree. depends on tile weight and material.
I use tub gear on ceramics up to 30x40 as long as i can use an 8mm trim, anything bigger and its powder every time.
Porcelain I use tub gear up to 20x20 and anything bigger its onto powder, (tub gear needs to be porcelain compatible, make sure you check!)
If youre not sure, powder is better, stronger and youre definately covered with any tile.
