Adhesive for large format tiles

As a matter of interest how large a tile would you go with ceramics with tub gear? I am currently using 248x331 ceramic tiles with tub gear all supplied by contractor i would guess this is border line what do you guys reckon?.

Its relevant to the type of tile and thickness, which leads on to the weight
of the tile, i.e. 33x33 8mm thick ceramic, tub addy would still be workable, but
say a 30x30 10mm thick porcelain tile you will need to look at changing to
cement addy.

I agree. depends on tile weight and material.
I use tub gear on ceramics up to 30x40 as long as i can use an 8mm trim, anything bigger and its powder every time.
Porcelain I use tub gear up to 20x20 and anything bigger its onto powder, (tub gear needs to be porcelain compatible, make sure you check!)
If youre not sure, powder is better, stronger and youre definately covered with any tile.

i always use powder adhesive on porcelain,just to be on the safe side.Regarding the question,as above depends on the size and thickness of tile.
