I class myself as a moderate DIYer and need to tile a small area of 7sq mtrs in my kitchen above and below my units.

My ceramic tiles are 298x498x9mm and a square metre would weigh 16.5kg. I will be tiling onto plastered plasterboard and having spent days googling what adhesive to use.

My preference is to use ready mix for convenience and I know the professionals will be advising powder. However, having looked at Mapei D1, White star, Wickes extra strong, B&Q Mapei super grab.

Are any of the above any good or is there a product out there that will stop tiles from slipping and will bond for more than a few weeks?

You couldn't use anything else on that size of tile apart from powder..
So it looks like powder, the chap fitting my kitchen told me to use Topps BAL green star ready mix, however if this is not suitable for my size of tile then can anyone tell me a powder to get. I don't understand cement based etc so a product name if possible would be helpful

I don't use bucket stuff for any tiling installation, always powder, bucket stuff just doesn't work for me, whenever I've used any bucket stuff bar Bal white star if you ever had to pop back & do repair job the adhesive just scrapes off the wall and tile with too much ease for my liking and it takes longer to fully cute than cement based addys.......say no to the bucket stuff:thumbsup:

Tilemaster standard setaflex adhesive is the way forward

The chap fitting your kitchen will be a joiner, tell him to stick to what he's good at & we will deal with the tiling.
Tubbed adhesive can only be used on a max tile size of 300mmx300mm & you can't use it on porcelain tiles.
As stated a standard set SPF, single part flex, will suit you & white if you can get it.
Prime the walls with an acrylic primer or SBR & you are good to go.
Please don't use PVA to prime as its not suitable (the guy fitting your kitchen will tell you you can)

BAL GreenStar tub & what it states on the back, show this to the kitchen fitter, he might learn something.
Nothing wrong with tubbed addy as long as it's used to the guidelines.
