Hi all, about to embark on a bathroom renovation myself (due to financial situation). Only a keen DIY-er but am an absolute novice in most areas!

As its my first time, I wanted a standard set adhesive and heard Mapei is probably the recommended brand for its function and price. Most products however I find are rapid set but came across this one which is a C1 (which from what I've read is one the least flexible).

So I was wondering if this is suitable to use this on my porcelain tiles floor and shower wall?

tiles I'll be using for the wall are these:

What's the floor made of? Screed or cement or wood?
I am not sure yet. There was a leak so part of the floor needs replacing and will need to lift up entire floor (tiles and ply) to see how mcuh the existing tongue and groove needs replacing. If its only a small section, i was hoping to replace tongue and groove and then 12mm cement boards or 6mm ply+6mm cement board.

If i need replacing the whole floor, I was then thinking whether to lay 18mm ply and then 6mm cement board unless I can come across better advice

You can't tile to plywood anymore. Too many failures were coming from it. The strength isn't the same as it used to be.

So it's the wrong adhesive.

You can tile to screwed tongue and groove flooring if its deflection free. But you normally have to put extra load bearing timber in as the joists can be all different widths. If it isn't tongue and groove and just wooden planks then there's even more of a risk.

Water damage at some point could also weaken the structure.

I'm not sure i would risk a DIY on a complicated wood floor myself.

Have you not got some quotes at all?

Yeah, quotes ranged from £6k-£10k but that included everything. New floor, wall and install new bath and tiling. I suspect I would probably end up with backer as top layer. Will just be whether it'll be on til of T&G+ply or just ply (thicker)
