advice on a ufh porcelain floor

Hi all advice on a ufh porcelain floor,concrete floor, living room is 23 m[SUP]2[/SUP] which joins onto a 3 m[SUP]2 [/SUP]hallway which joins onto a 12 m[SUP]2[/SUP] dinning room which has a kitchen at the back 12 m[SUP]2[/SUP]. Would it require expansion joints at the doorways? or leaving 10mm expansion around the perimeter be enough? thanks in advance

I would be putting expansion joints to the door ways...the screed tends to have a habit of cracking at that point..

Dont waste your money...... make your own using colour matching silicone on a grout line, or make up a strip using two lengths of square edge trim which can then be filled with the colour matching silicone. If you do want the ready made option, then I have found Schluter great, followed by genesis

If you have a tile joint that run across the door frame use silicone, known as a cold joint, if not any good tile supplier should supply expansion joints..Tile Giant hold a good selection, if have one near you.

I would keep to the grout joint, BS states 3mm minimum on floors..

It varies on manufacturer, but you should easily get change from a tenner for one of the cheaper brands. Search this forum for "expansion joint" and you should get a much better idea

60 x 30 tile, 12mm square notch trowel, back skimmed then slapped down - coverage looks pretty good to me????




Just my two pence worth.

Oh and I'd deffo opt for hand made expansion joints rather than pre-formed.
