Advice on adhesive and grouts

Hi all,

I am going to buy my tiles for the bathroom on Saturday.

After reading posts on here I think I will be purchasing cermaic tiles for weight reasons.

I would appreciate some advice on the type of adhesive and grout I should be looking to buy.

I am fixing wall tiles to a plasterboard and skim wall that will have been tanked with a weber.sys kit.

I will ask in the shop for advice but was hoping I could have some knowledge before I walk in.

Use a cement based adhesive ( in a bag, not ready mixed). Now whether you can handle fast setting or not is for you to decide.
! tend to use a white fast set Single part flexible for myself.

Mapei P9 will do you ok, 4 hours working time!

As above, a single part white powder adhesive is your best bet and you will be better off with a standard setting or an extended setting one, you will also want a primer. Where are you going for your adhesive?

As I am apply a weber waterproofing shower kit before I tile do I need a primer? If so, what should I be looking for.

I was going to get the tiles and adhesive from a local tile store.

Any advice on grout?

No you dont need to prime, do you know what brand of adhesive they stock? Will be easier for us to recommend a grout if we know which range you are using.

You should be able to tell the guy in the shop what tiles your using and what you are tiling onto, he should be able to give you the right gear. When you come to grout, make sure that you leave the internal angles clear of grout. these will need to be filled with a good quality Silicon

I have just gone onto the website for the store Powder Adhesives

As I used the weber make for the waterprrofing, should I stick with that adhesive?

Its a good idea to use the same brand through the entire installation and follow the manufacturers instructions all the way through. This just gives you a bit of piece of mind as no manufacturer will grantee their products if you mix them.
