advice on pricing

Just say that you need to price up the materials for the job and your price list is at home, if they ask. Never had anyone as though, I just tell them i'll ring back or post the quote through the door the next day and they are fine.

I Have Rough Idea what it takes for to tile a bathroom of a certain size so if the job is a run of the mill bathroom you can give them a rough estimate ,same for kitchens . but make sure you ask them what type of tiles and what size . mosaic tiles and 10 cm x 10cm take more time to fix and eat a lot more grout . Remember you are giving n ESTIMATE and not a QUOTE .. If in doubt take your time and gie them a call once you have had time to think . the more you do the more you'll learn .

what way do u experienced lads use to give a customer a price, measure up and give it there and then,or go home, work it out and then contact them with an estimate.i find the latter best in case i miss anything, but bear in mind i am a newbie
Always measure up and go away to work it out, then post it. Ensure you specify exactly on the quote what you are costing for. This then becomes an instant contract if they decide to take you on.

This ensures you don't miss anything out PLUS it avoids the annoying yet embarrasing situation of being haggled on the spot.

Regards

🙂

Im with Gaz on this one
Once you know what you are doing after a while you can quote there and then, this gives you a chance to fight your corner for any reasons why they think your quote might be to high, justify how good you are doing the job with the products you are using to build up confidence. For the newbees best to work out as said above, at home, allways follow up the quote by a call on the phone

Remember an Estimate is an Estimate and can Change if you hit any snags ie, loose plaster under old tiles etc . A Quote is a price for the job and has to be done for that Price.
