Advice on quick job

Hi all, just joined, site looks great with lots of info on it.

Right anyway, I have a job which I'd like some advice on:

Shower Leak has caused damage to plasterboard, I need to remove mouldy plasterboard and tiles (after fixing leak).

Now I'd normally put up new plasterboard, scree/skim and then tile a couple of weeks later, but this all needs to be done in a day. I can't just seal the plasterboard as the section being replaced would be shallower then the existing area by some 3-4mm

So I know of hardibacker board, would this be suitable? do I put it ontop of plasterboard? any other ideas?

Cheers
Mark

hi mark..what thickness is the original plaster board..?...if its 9mm you can use 12.5 mm one....if not you can use 3mm ply packer strips on the timber studs and then board over, this will bring it out flush no probs.......i am presuming its not a dot & dabbed wall.....
This will work for a patch up job no probs.....other wise i would think about tanking to prevent it happening again....good luck..

Replace with marine plywood that is the same thickness as the origional plasterboard and skim?

Cheers Dave, Ply packer strips sound like it'll sort this out, so simple yet so effective...
