Hi chaps!

I need some advice here. I have been to look at a job for a woman and it's tiling a fireplace. Had a search on the forum and couldn't find anything.

I haven't a clue what adhesive or grout to use and how long it should be left without being used etc.

Could do with help asap as I need to quote it quick as I can.

Thanks
Gaz

it really depends on the type of fire place, if its a coal fire place then use bal fast flex and wide joint grout with GT 1 admix and any other type just use bal rapid set flexible with wide joint grout and GT 1 admix

Doh !! he beat me to it again

So I need to use the GT1 admix regardless of what type of fire or adhesive? No Tub mix though?

Ho long must it be left before the fire is used?

Also will I need to hold tiles in place with something on the under side of the fireplace and across the top where there is no support. I assume the adhesive won't hold it?

I asked in Topps about what to use and mentioned GT1 admix and the guy just looked puzzled! Need to make sure I know what I want as I don't think they have a clue.

Thanks guys!

the tiles on the under side should hold ok if you put plenty adhesive on and bed them in well. The tiles across the top can be held in place with some gaffer tape or similar...
leave the fire place about 48hrs before using.........

Cheers DH, holding the tiles with tape is great idea cheers!

Just to clarify, does the grout need to be flexible and can i just use normal wall grout?

hi gaz.. use flexi floor grout, allows for expansion and is harder wearing.....dave....
