Hi there,

I have a full bathroom to tile using ceramic. The customer is plaster boarding the whole room. I'm I right that the boards only need to be acrylic primed before tiling? Also any tips on keeping the level true on all 4 walls.

Cheers

Hi Customiser, you are right about the acrylic primer, that is all you need do. As for keeping the walls true, I would say that was down to ( mainly ) the customers plasterboarding or the surface preperation before the board, are they battoning the walls or dot and dab ?

yes just use acrylic primer, as for keeping the level true on all 4 walls find your starting point and draw a level line right round the room this should keep your grout lines square, (walls are never true you have to make them look like they are )

I guess it will be dot and dab?

Looks like I might have my wires crossed here, when you said levels, did you mean wall level or tile level .... lol, if it's the tiles then yes, set out as you would, find your start point / level all the way round. Make sure your level marks meet up, as levels tend not to be 100% accurate.
A way around this is to 'flip' the level ( end to end ) each time you mark the surface, this way, if the level i out by 1mm over its length, that's the maximum you'll be out in any one run rather than go al the way round to find out your 10mm out at the end.

Hope that makes sense and helps a little 🙂

no need to prime plaster board if you make sure customer uses moisture resistant plaster board.
