am i over charging????

just gave a lady a price and you could hear a sharp intake of breath....she says i sound 'very expensive' so thought id see what you lads think

23 sq mtrs boarding out with backer boards im supply all boards, addy, screws and obviously labour
then lay 23 sq mtrs under floor heating im to supply heating system
then lay 23 sq mtrs travertine brick bond a few cuts round doors ect but nothing to major, im to supply addy but not grout or sealer.
i got a total of £2010
does sound a lot but its the all the materials that put this price up, my mtr rate was £32.....
am i way off the mark here or is that about right??

400 for the boarding but just seen on anoyher post you fix boards using a wall trowel so can see i was slightly over on addy id need

no mate...havent laid the matting before only the wires and that was a right pain in the arse...i know this is quicker to install but not sure how much quick...is a ton to much?

Are the backer boards needed?
Do you really think topps is the right place to buy material's ,the only thing i buy off them is sponges.
You have to look at it from the client's point of view, they see an area and expect it done for button's instead of giving them a flat rate for the job ,break it down into what is needed i.e underfloor heating alone is going to cost X amount ,backer board's X amount and tiling X amount i think your rate for travertine is there or there about's.
Breakdown the charge's for them and let them decide if they need the added extra's of underfloor heating(sound,s very expensive at £610 as you dont need to cover the whole £23m2 ).

Could you not use 12mm ply or 18mm if tiles are heavy to reduce cost, i only used backer on last job because of transition from the other room and i dont want to use 6mm ply otherwise i would have used 12mm ply as its quicker to install and dont need any addy.

i did suggest this but she said she didnt want the step into the kitchen...builders told her that 25mm ply would work out more than backer boards so she said she wanted the boards

Me personally would ,let her buy the materials and then quote labour only,but that's just my opinion.
To be honest i swerve anything like that as it's not worth the headache.
I always have customers get anything like that ,done before i get there, that way i can go there and just tile.
