Any advice for tiling in a modified hopscotch pattern for first timer

About to embark on 30 m2 of porcelain floor tiles (18x18,12x12&6x6's) in a modified hopscotch pattern. It's the first time I have done tiling in a pattern and not sure how to start. I would normally use a chalk line etc but I think the only thing I can with this job is to start in the far corner and take it from there. I have dry layed an area out with 3mm spacers and the tiles seem quite accurate size wise which I know can be a problem when using different size tiles as you can lose the bond.

Any advice from the experts will be well received.

The pattern will repeat, so you can set out in parallel lines and this will keep it straight and square..

The pattern should work in 2 foot lines and then repeat if you get my drift,, so strike 2 chalk lines in the room centre and work out from that..

I see what u mean about the 2' chalk lines. The only thing is the room is an L shape with a breakfast bar sticking out into the middle so would I not be better working it to full tiles down the long wall. I have had a quick measure and it works quite well against the opposite wall and then as it passed round the breakfast bar into the kithen area it will just have to work how it works.

I guess one advantage of having a pattern is that u don't end up with that horrible slither of tiles against one wall which u sometimes can't avoid. Using a pattern it should only land on the odd tile here and there been a slither if u know what I mean.

Ye.. no probs.. it is one of those patterns that will allow the stagger to deviate along the opposite wall.. as long as it is square to the way the kitchen falls then no probs..

I have checked and the Walls are parallel so all should be good. Thanks for the advice mate
