young lad i play rugby with is just finishing an ICA at college and a guy from citb rang me and asked me if i could take him on until he gets his nvq. they will give me £1500 for 30 days and then £1500 when he qualifies. he only needs site experience for his nvq. anyone else any thoughts on this ?

i thought it seemed too good to be true but im meeting the guy later on this week to make sure of everything. will cost me extra as i will need to change liability insurance etc... the kid has been working with me for a few months already when he has been off college and hes not a bad tiler so should be fairly easy money

Bear in mind that you are then becoming an employer and as such will need to comply with all the regs to do with that. £3000 sounds nice but insurance will need to be addressed and also holiday pay and the like!

So the lad would still qualify for holidays even though he's only working for 30 days ?

I should have qualified for holiday pay then doing my work experiance at school

where does the 30 days come from ,being told at college it will take one day aweek for ten weeks (cost £640 ) the rest on site

'fraid so, it would be "pro rata" what his annual holidays would have been. All employess now are entiltled to paid holidays, whether they are full time, part time, temporary or fixed contract.
