Well after following all this advice I got myself out and about and I can see it will work over time. You get a mixed response, some places are really great, and some are completely rude ar**holes lol, but I was nice and proffesional with them all, no matter how they were with me. One kitchen shop has given me a couple of jobs for next week, a splashback and a floor, if he likes the way I deal with his customers and it goes ok, he wants me to do all his work. I just happened to call on him at the right time really, a bit of luck, but if I hadn't got myself out there then it wouldn't have happened so I reckon I made that bit of luck happen. Just by going around talking to people gets you feeling part of the 'trade', even if you don't directly get work from it, so it's all good in my book. This last week I had a couple of days work for a plumber I met at the pub and a call from one of the cards I put in newsagents windows and earned just under £400......I was well happy with that. I am really optomistic about the future and can see all sorts of possibilities I can utilise, but YOU HAVE TO GET OUT AMONGST 'EM, AND THAT'S THE BIG LESSON i HAVE LEARNED IN MY FIRST WEEKS TRADING. Thanks for all the advice given to me on this thread, and also the couple of people who sent me private messages ( you obviously know who you are lol ), it really did help.....and it was soooooo good to be doing 'proper' work again lol. So hopefully onwards and upwards!
