is there a demand for tiler to be in someones house over the xmas period?

i don't get much private work at the painting, but i'm lucky to fall back on doing non slip walkways in my local factory, so that keeps HMRC happy and the bread knife

Quite honestly I don't want to be in peoples houses over the xmas holiday, The kids are all over the place, there relatives who are staying over watching your every move, and they ask if you want a drink (the strong type), or they complain of the upheaval. No thanks

Been working on a showroom which they wanted open for the 2nd of Jan,I have a little lad and I've worked practically everyday over the Christmas period for the past 3 yeas so I said I'd finish this year on the 17th.The showroom fell behind so ended up working till the 20th.
They wanted me to go back in between Chrimbo and New Year,I said I wanted £300 a day because I had no interest in going back in the holidays.They nearly agreed but luckily no-one from the showroom company wanted to work it.
I'd rather have it off,only happens once a year.

When I first started with Topps I had no control over the days set to work,the guy who did the rota had me working most weekends,I was only one in the store with kids !!....I put up with it for a while and then snapped at him.It seemed I was missing our lad growing up...it got sorted.....some things are far more important than work.....Gaz
