Asbestos

Got a job to look at next week, a kitchen floor, currently with old vinyl tiles down of some sort, the chap who passed my name on said your not supposed to be taking up those old tiles are they can contain asbestos, True ?
I've took up some in my time!

Went to look at a job the other night, customer had already ripped half the floor up.. wood laminate on vinyl on what looked like old 60's tiles stuck like the proverbial to asphalt.
My thoughts are to leave well alone and go with prime and grip, slc over old tiles then tile it

I've often lifted these Marley thermoplastic tiles and wouldn't hesitate to do so again. My view is that whilst they may have contained asbestos in the past, any fibres are encapsulated within the vinyl tile unlike the old asbestos roof sheeting often seen on old garages. You can tile over them if they're well fixed, clean and dry. You could paint a slurry coat on them first if you like.

In the past I have put a slurry on and tiled over, I have also took loose ones up. Not sure there is need to put slc on top? Ile advise to leave them be, I'm sure she will want them covering up quick time!
