Backbutter durabase decoupling matting

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

I have used Durabase a couple of times and decided it was safer to backbuttered the felt side and got a perfect contact, just like when backbuttering tiles.

Just wondering whether anyone else does this, because there are a few videos on youtube but none of them backbutter the matting.

Thanks

Get a roller that can have weight added to it to roll over the matting, pressing it into the adhesive. We put 40kg of weight and 100% contact every job. Back buttering matting sounds messy!!!

Thanks Tom, Yes it was a bit of a pain when I did my ensuite, but I slept well.
I couldnt find a roller. which I why I did it.

I suppose it cant hurt, right? assuming plenty of space to apply it.

Thank you

Definitely can’t hurt. I guess doing it for an en suite is a bit different to doing it on a 100m2 floor 😂
