hello:hurray:

It has been requested for backer board to be used and fixed around pipework and toilet cistern so that my ceramic tiles may be fitted. Is this advised and the preferred substrate for this?

So long as the frame is rigid this is a good choice as it is moisture resistant

its good but you can use ordinary plaster board its cheaper and easy to find
