Bad Walls

I've started ripping out this bathroom and the walls are bloody awful. Tiled over plaster( a bit like bonding covered with the Spanish equivalent of Artex). I've got off as much of the plaster as I can but here's my quandary , I've got 60 x 30 porcs to go up. What would be your preferred option?

Looks a bit unusual! Board it out with something of your choice. Plasterboard? Wedi?

I'm probably going with Kerdi board dabbed and mechanically fixed. Just wondered if there was something I'm missing. Having said that, they do do things differently here!

Kerdie looks good..lightweight......whats are they dabbing with.....plaster board adhesive? or brick mortar? Tile adhesive?

Tile adhesive (primed walls) but with good mechanical fixings.

also the specs imply and feel free to correct me, but implys that it can be used without tanking as its a waterproof product unless you're doing a swimming pool. must be fairly expensive, but if that could be used in domestic applications it looks well good. I wonder how it compares to "no more ply"

The board is inherently waterproof, you only need to waterproof the joints. It can be fixed with adhesive alone. Compared to cement board it may seem expensive but when you factor in not having to tank, the ease of cutting, low weight ( important when you're trying to lug great big sheets on your own) I know what I prefer!

1st video I looked at they were using screws and washers!

Drill and plug your brickwork.

incomprehensible. for me. you are not in spain?
It should work. as in italy +/-.
sand, cement, lime (with fibers). the max. primer on the bricks. (But not required).
Then waterproof all. (Mapelastic use. These works. Residual moisture)
I have always seen him do so.

Yes Antonio, I am in Spain. My concern is that I would not be able to get mortar to adhere properly to the bricks with the amount of plaster still remaining on them. A Spanish builder suggested making holes all across the wall so mortar could enter and grip. I may try a test area your way ( also lime is only in huge bags!) If I wasn't going to fix tiles @ 30kg m2 I wouldn't be so concerned.

I did not see. which was plaster.
use primer. no mortar. use type (Planitop Mapei / keralevel kerakoll).
secured engagement. as it says bricklayer is also ok. make some hole. not hurt. you could fix. also a steel mains. thin. prior to shaving.

I've had Man-flu for the past 4 days so I've not done anything. Will certainly try a test area before ordering the Kerdi board ( over €500!!)
