First things first:
Wall tile, Porcelain (Top Cer)
My house is a stable 20°C (new build UFH)
I followed the instructions 5:1 and then wash tiles with a (very lightly damp) sponge when grout begins to set.
On first application I got a very pale result (lighter than gunmetal) with some darker patches.
I decided to do a bit of experimentation, I tried:
The only thing that worked for me in the end was NO WASHING.
Here's my method that works:
My grout is now the correct colour and has no patches.
Only problem is it leaves tiles quite dirty so they need a good clean the next day.

I decided to do a bit of experimentation, I tried:
- following the recipe to exact gram (same result)
- washing with almost dry sponge (same result)
- Dryer mix (same result)
The only thing that worked for me in the end was NO WASHING.
Here's my method that works:
- Slightly dryer mix than 5:1
- Scrape as much off with soft trowel after application.
- Use grout shaper tool to make neat.
- WAIT AT LEAST 60mins until it is almost fully set.
- Using almost dry sponge very carefully wipe down tiles (do not get the grout wet, do not try to clean tiles completely)
My grout is now the correct colour and has no patches.
Only problem is it leaves tiles quite dirty so they need a good clean the next day.
