like bri said, if hes going to kick up that much of a fuss just swap them for some decent stuff, knock it up in the back of the van and use the ptb on your next floor, hes none the wiser job gets done and its not costing any extra........
I like that option, obvious solution really, sometimes the obvious is in front of your eyes and you don't see it. I can relax now. Cheers

Seems like the path of least resistance!

If you read my original post properly i don't want to use it at all, but i'm stuck being so far into the job with a customer listening to his mate at the shop and not me. I would sooner change it obviously. I just asked the question here wondering if anyone has done what i'm being asked to do with or without problems. I'm trying to get a solution to my problem without losing a load of money and work..

you are not stuck and neither will the PTB be on he wall. Your tiles will slip you will have a devils own job getting levels and flatness. Just ask your customer to take it back and swap it for something else.....probably a little cheaper. The tile shop probably have a glut of gear and are trying to get shot. "His mate in the tile shop" some mate says I giving something that isn't actually fit for purpose. Just tell your customer the truth in terms he would understand. It's a semi liquid adhesive, that is ONLY suitable on a flat horizontal surface and his expensive tiles are likely to slip off the wall if he makes you use it. It is not your fault but if you use it, it will become your problem. Ring bal technical and get him to speak directly to them AFTER you have explained in front of him your dilemma.... I am sure they will see it your way and explain it to him as well. If he is so unreasonable that he does not sort it out the I don't fancy your chances of getting paid anyway....

Just spoke to Stuart at Bal technical and he has pretty much said what i thought he would, "definately not for walls, slump values, failures etc. He's going to send me something in writing to show the customer. Now the hunt is on for him to find the supplier for giving out duff info. That won't be easy the customer wont tell me jack apart from he got it cheap. It's well within date so must be overordered by the shop or something. I'm going with Bri's idea of keeping the PTB and not even telling the customer.

The guy is a little on the backfoot now after my call to Bal, which is better. I have a feeling now after a few little comments that his mate at the shop may have let the stuff leave through the back door. Which explains things a bit more. He still won't let slip the shop though....
