Bal SBR/APD

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the above and the different applications. I am new to tiling and not sure which one I should use on walls or floors.

BAL APD is an acrylic primer and bal bond SBR is a synthetic bonding agent and primer.....

APD is your primer for plaster and concrete and timber......

SBR is a bonding agent and be used in slurry coats and self levellers to aid in the adhesion process and can also be used as a primer on plaster and concrete and plywood..

APD is usually applied neat or ratio 1-1 where as SBR is watered to ratio 4-1 unless priming ply then you apply neat......hope this helps.....Gaz

Gaz, do you know if you can use ordinary sbr as in febond, i have 20l in my shed coz i use it in render and floor screeds...it will save me purchasing bal which i have been doing.

hi mark..FEBOND SBR is a styrene-butadiene co-polymer latex specifically designed for use with cementitious mixes. It is used in mortar and concrete as an admixture to increase water and abrasion resistance and durability. It is used with cement as a reliable water resistant bonding agent.where as bal bond sbr is also a primer as well as a bonding agent..............dave..:shades_smile:
