who worked out where the recess shelves were going to go ? ...only with the grout lines being centred on them, it has left a small cut in corner to right...id have been tempted to get a full tile and make the recess work from that to centre grut line I think..I can understand getting the two symeticral widths to the bath width but shame about the small cut in corner..

Yes, the client decided based purely on where she wanted the niches for placing a wine glass (hence no grout lines continued inside the niche so it didn't topple over!). I showed how moving it all 50mm to the right would avoid this but the customer is always right (that is until after all finished and the realisation hits!!!)

No, honestly, wine glass in niche furthest from taps (head end) and other niche for oil burner. I tiled the end of the bath too but they insisted I left the horrible warped MDF front panel. They realised the 50mm cut was a mistake the same time that they also realised they wanted the front panel tiled! Had to order more tiles and return a week later to finish it.
Lovely couple though and returning to turn the ensuite into a wet room next year.

Just a quick question for mr t...how are you going to recess 40mm? it will be pointless and look silly?....i would just build the wall out 40mm or however much is needed once the new bath is in....then build the height to the same size as the tile on the bath so it flows around better

Mr T is no longer on the forum, so don't expect an answer. Sadly I think only Mr T could have explained himself

Mr Tiler

Lol. Thanks for the comment martino and the answer to your question is that with the tiles still on the wall and have been packed out a little by the shoddy council and including the very most I can come across the bath I shall have at least 50-60mm to play with so it will come out enough to hold some shower gels ect. Cheers
