Bathroom floor backer board

Was thinking of 12 mill ply, as i have some left over, then i thought 6 mill backer board may be better, less height nr the toilet and door

also easy to cut the awkward shapes out

is it best to lay long ways? and how best to go around toilet

does b board screw to the floorboards, and what adhesive is best i have some flexi left over malpi

As long as the original floor has no deflection then backerboard would be the way forward. Also removing the toilet pan would be the best way too, this would save lots of time and give a much better finish.
The fixing of the backerboard depends on the backerboard manufacturers instructions...which make will you be using ?

prob b n q or topps, do you mean if the floor is level? I think the toilet will stay, to much messing about if i dont know how to remove> and then screw back through tiles?

Not sure what Topps sell, Hardibacker I think which needs to be glued with tile adhesive and screwed. The toliet isnt such a hassle and really does look better removed.

just looked at the toilet, and could prob move, but its the putting back, screwing though the tiles? getting the right place

does the toilet sit on the tiles, or is there like a washer to cushion, i would have thought it may slightly move?

Toilet sits back on the tiles , drill through the tiles then screw back down , looks much better than tiling around it

Just sit the toilet on the tiles,mark holes with pencil and then drill 10mm hole through tiles. Gives you a bit of play incase slightly out.

same as above and also run a bead of silicone around pan when tiled.

No dont tile direct onto floor boards :yikes:, put some backer boards down otherwise you will have problems , make sure you use a flexable adhesive too

DO NOT TILE ON TO FLOOR BOARDS. That is all i will say
