i wouldnt take it to bits if it was me , can you not go the USB route for speakers instead ? , dont forget , if the socket is soldered into the MOBO then you will have little if any chance of sorting it :incazzato:

thees nothing that will give you anymore than a shock similar to a battery,however if you open the casing hen you may be breaking the manufacturers warranty

it's about 4 years old now David, so warranty isn't an issue now, but I'm sick of having to borrow Lou's lappie for tooonz

do you have a mic socket Doug? is there any kind of adapter that can be used in a mic socket to turn it into a headphone socket? just a thought, might be a bit crazy, but makes sense to me :smilewinkgrin:
