Being held to ransom

Does anyone else get this ? You do a job but before you get paid they want you to start another job. this way they always owe you ?
I am trying to get away from a company at the moment but they always pay when i start the next job.

A little bit, but with my bloke I know him, so I kinda let him get away with it.

But you can always turn-up, get your tools out, get paid. Say thanks, and pack up your tools..

no ,im a pay me before i start another job type of person ,you can never be to sure,if the customer is happy you should be paid on completion imo,i dont like waitin to be paid like that and wont let it happen

Tell them your going to call it a day tiling and are going into an office job, get paid and never hear from them again, unless you start back up again

I did a job for a builder yesterday for the first time, was meant to meet him this morning for the money. Got a call this morning asking if I could latex a room this afternoon for him and he'll give me the money after that. I know there won't be a problem but it just amused me it happened within minutes of reading this thread!! Any chance you can start a new thread about winning the lottery Neale:lol:

It's just one of many many old trick's used to play sub's , we should start a thread which pin-points them to all tilers coming through ,then try and stamp them -out ............

No need for that, all you need is an insurance policy if you know what I mean. I try to be prepared for every eventuality now. Trust me, when you start doing business with these types of people the don't idle chit chat with you, they probe for information about you. If they can then they will use it against you, total control freaks!! It upsets my work tbh and that's why I don't like it but where money is concerned people will be ruthless, be prepared and fair and make the decision to stop work if you need to but pick a time that suites you rather than then to make a stand!

Well today I am doing another job but I havent been paid for the previous one. So when I get there i should have a cheque waiting.....if not I will have to make a decision.

Yup but next Saturday is job 3 and its only a kitchen splashback. He is paying me on Monday coming.

I have no doubt that I will get paid but I dont like this attitude of a job in hand.

I'm suspicious of everyone, maybe it's a bad trait in me......or not.

Assume the worst, imagine its a big couple of jobs.........and they stiff you.

I prefer that they surprise you and pay before you have to ask.

Never let anyone get money on you like this !!! they will take you at some point ! and why should you bank -roll them since one of my neighbours crashed into me when i was stationary ,and claimed it was 50/50 a few months ago i do not trust anyone anymore Get your money Monday wilder or you will end-up losing it :yikes:
