Hi everyone, been reading all of the great advice here, and I have a question that is similar to some but I'm going to ask it anyway.
I live in a victorian house, with all of the problems that brings. We had the 1st floor bathroom done about ten years ago, but have had a series of leaks from the shower, and my wife has finally had enough. So, we are going to take the room right back to a shell, which will be joists for floor and ceiling, and a mixture of plastered brickwork and old lathe and plaster on studs for the walls.
Here's the question - with a blank canvas what's the best solution? At the moment. I'm thinking:
for the floor: additional noggins to strengthen floor joists, then 15mm WPB, overlaid with 6mm backer board, then warmup matt, and finally tiles. Shower tray will be custom made resin type to fit an alcove, with a fixed glass screen.
The shower area will be where the walls are stud work - what's the best way to prepare these walls to be tiled?
many thanks
