Best way to approach the pouring of an SLC

I am about to put some SLC down over a kitchen floor approx 16sqm.

Just need some advice on the best way to approach this. ie section off the floor into a grid (2x2m) and pour until required depth reached and then move onto the next or is there another better way.Maybe put down some battens /guides on the floor, pour SLC into the enclosed area, remove battens and then pour SLC into the strip that is left between the two previously poured areas.

16 is nice and small prime ; get your tools ready water drill trowel etc mixour: gently spread out with large trowel repeat also can use a straight edge to tap on top of slc gently so she spreads evenly ;also check floor with straight edge to see if their are any hollows and mark with pencil then you know to apply more slc or if their is a bump grind down ;

Use a spiked roller as well as you are working to remove air bubbles

16 m2 floor should be very straight forward, assess the floor first to try and get a picture of how it dips or any humps using either a laser or just a straight edge. If the floor is not too bad then dam off areas you don't want it to go then pour and trowel. Or use a pin rake. Levelling with pin rake will follow the contours of floor but will level out fine if not too serious.

levelled loads of floors before bit the bullet and got one of these now i could not imagine doing it without

what problems are caused if all air isnt removed? cracks?

Little bubble marks on the surface, its more of an issue for amtico fitters

Never used a spike roller on slc only resin floors to remove air bubbles....

I used my spiked roller last week but it seemed to push the slc about too much

The rollers sticking a bit so I ended up using my big float & done it by hand

Always prefer using my spiked roller, need to give it a right good clean & oil it so it runs smoother..

I've not found any that I can just pour and leave!!! Self smoothing is more like it..

I've had a theory for a few years now for slc on timber floors, pour then pin rake as usual... Then using a hammer sds gun apply vibration to the timber floor to accelerate the levelling process

Cheers for all replies.

80% of the room went okay. Just one part that I am not happy with.
Would i be okay in trying to cover the slight dips that I missed, with the adhesive that I have to use to stick the UFH insulation boards. Then getting them level as possible using a spirit level.
I then plan to lay UFH mat with another coat of SLC on top, before doing the actual tiling.

Don't really want to rip up that area of SLC and re do it if I can help it.
