That's happened to us too. Pigeon missed the roof and went straight into the window, leaving exactly the same kind of mark on the glass. One down, a few million to go. Horrible creatures.

An owl did that on a job we were on a few years ago. It sat all day like a statute then took off late in the afternoon.

That bird dust print does look more like an owl than a wood pigeon mark. Birds kept committing suicide on my patio doors so I put a few window sticker thingies on them (to let my girls see they are closed too) and haven't had a dead bird since!

Definitely a woody Geoff, it hit the deck and flapped around for a few seconds then took off....

Poor blighter! Mine would break their necks and scare my girls when they opened the curtains!

Next door had a woodpecker fly in their front door couple of months ago, pretty much knocked himself out trying to flee thru solid glass.
