Evening All

Have a quick question, i have to tile a spalh nack with some Mosiac tiles and there are some areas that have a big gap form the wall to the work top, what are my option with this guys?

Also nd tips on fitting mosaics, first time, i will be using a grout float, but wondererd about setting out and cutting, they are ceramic tiles.

Thanks

Options ?
I assume the wall has a curve in it? Is skimming the wall an option?
If not, try filling the gap with a Silicon to match worktops before tiling.
An upstand could be added but you would need the correct material to match the worktop and that would need either scribing to the wall or cutting into the wall.
The 1st would be my choice if possible.

Set out as normal centreing on window or focal point on wall. As Gaz states, brick bond the sheets when fitting dont fit them directly on top of each other. Use 3mm trowel and pad onto wall using grout float. Better to use a white adhesive too if possible and in particular if grout will be white. To fill the gap, you could do as some of the guys suggest or even put some 2 x 2 wood along the worktop. Tile over that and it makes a nice shelf to put the fairy liquid onto!!

I had this very problem myself due to a badly fitted kitchen. I drew the customers attention to it an told them straight that the tiling would not cover it and siliconing would be a no no. In this instance they were thankfull as well as pre warned and were prepared to come up with a solution themselves. Remember you are a tiler not a miracle worker.

Guys

Some great advice,

I have told the customer what there option are and some option on filling the gap,

I have left it with them, if they want me to tile the area after they have made there decision i will list out the possible problems in my quote and get them to sign it, i do know these people so i have been very honest with them,

Great advice all and many thanks

Gaz
