hello and thanks for all the help i`ve received so far.now i`ve got 1 more for you.i`m going to fit a shower tray but due to needing a fall on the waste pipe i need to raise the tray by 4 inches.if i make a sturdy frame of 4 by 2 timber (with the 4 inch being the height) can i tile directly onto that frame with wall tiles if i make sure there is a siliconed gap af 2 mm between the tray and the tiles?hope this makes sense.thanks again. dave.

can you get access to your waste pipe if you build it like that. Make a seperate panel (hardie) and tile to that

I would make the frame to leave an open front and as faithhealer make a panel for the front

its a suspended floor,22mm ply onto joists.

You can get an 'easy plumb' tray with legs and a removable skirt. Look at the Mira Flight.

I beef up the support with timber though.

Same as above, build you riser frame leaving at just short at the front edge of the tray to fix tiles to backerboard and to keep it flush at the front.
have you checked to see if the tray you have has a dedicated riser kit(leg set) this can make it easier to level and leaves more access room under the tray
if so then do this and fabricate a tiled panel as described.
