Bitumen will not come, will it be ok to slc ontop of it

Hello,

Ive took up some marley tiles but i cant get the bitumen adhesive up. Its possible that its got asbestos in anyway,...

Will it be ok to slc on top of it?

then tile?

have you tried melting it with a heat gun? you could grind it but that would be messy, wear a mask if you do. i wouldn't risk slc over it as there's a risk of contamination

Where do you get this stuff from and what thickness will it go to...?

Do you just pour it out and then spread it with a float?

You can stabilize the asphalt tile adhesive with a slurry bond coat, as above. Don't worry about asbestos contamination. The asbestos is in the thermoplastic tiles, not the ATA, that is just a bitumen adhesive

a slurry bond coat as in sbr and cement 50/50?

Do they sell the ardex na at topps or TG? or could i use something similar?

Id just heard that sometimes there is asbestos in the brown paper mixed in the bitumen? or have i heard this wrong?

Will I need to prime the SLC before tiling, and if so shall i just use the sbr neat?

Theres a chance I can get my hands on some cempolatex 2 part slc.. Will this be ok over the bitumen instead of a water based slc?
