Discuss Bosch GTR 30 - Gimmick tool or worth having? in the UK Tiling Forum area at TilersForums.com.

Hi guys

Thought I'd ask your opinions. I keep seeing these advertised and they look quite useful but I'm just not sure how good they are and if I would get my money's worth out of it.

Has anyone got one and would you recommend them? I do a lot of stone work so the scribing side of it looks worth having but what's it like at cutting holes with the core's? Has anyone used it on 20mm granite/marble/limestone?

Thanks in advance

Its mainly stone tiles I fit. The occasional porc job. Thought I'd upgrade my kit and get some pukka hole cutters. What do you guys use for cutting holes on stone and porc? Is it better to go with the 365 kit and keep replacing them or go marcrist/rubi kits? The new marcrist dry hole cutters to go on grinders look like they would be tasty on stone. Anyone tried them?

I use Armeg hole cutters for porcelain. They're not cheap but they do give a nice finish. I bought this kit Armeg Porcelain Tile Cutter Piping Set 8Pcs | Screwfix.com but there are lots around and probably cheaper but this one does the job nicely. I also do a lot of stone and I haven't found anything that beats Disston Remgrit Holesaws which you can get from Screwfix. They are relatively inexpensive and do a fantastic (and fast) job on most types of natural stone. Here is a link to the 35mm Grit Edged Holesaw 35mm | Screwfix.com but they come in a variety of sizes. I'd recommend drilling a pilot hole first with a standard glass/tile bit (the Armeg ones last for ages).
