Evening
Have been to look at a recently built farmhouse and have been asked to quote on 56m2 of calibrated Brazilian black mandarin cleft slate that will run through 4 rooms.
It's on concrete with a wet ufh and been levelled
There is a possibility of 2 further bathrooms and the kitchen as well,so was wondering what you guys would consider a competitve quote and approximatly the time it should be done in.
The client is supplying adhesive, grout and sealant.
So at the moment it would be labour only though he is finding out which addyetc is been supplied and may change on my advice
Cheers all

It all depends how much you want the job really. Don't forget that you will probably end up losing close to a day just applying sealer & the setting out could represent a challenge depending on the actual layout, too. I'd probably be looking at a slightly higher meter price than Brian suggested, but that may just be me .

Cheers guys
Was going to ask next on the tilers forum rather than the arms but have had such a good response here will ask.
Would anybody like Doug suggests use an uncoupling membrane.
The concrete was poured in April and is at a 55mm thickness so would have thought certainly dry but with the wet ufh there what's anyones thoughts.
Would an S1 addy alone be enough to take any heat exspansion
Cheers again

wise advice above
dont get too drawn in to other peoples price per meter on a domestic job like this ..look at how long you think it will take you, the conditions/obstacles you are going to face and evaluate it from there..the cuts, design, layout , whats the screed like? who's laid it? all make a difference and slate is about as time consuming a stone as they come?

also as mentioned above, dont get drawn into lowering your price for 'the possibility?? of future work, its the oldest one in the book lol ;0)
take you time, do a good job and i am sure that will have more of a determining factor on whether you will get more work from this person.

best of luck

i think 35-40 per m2 is spot on it is not about the time it takes they are not paying you just for your time you have the tools the knowledge and the tiling skills. if you price it on 6 days and it takes 8 or even 10 days you will be losing out and if you do it in 5 days they may want to knock some of the bill. do not under sell your self.
