Brickbond

When a job comes in where customer wants brick affect on the floor do you guys do 50/50 or maybe 70/30? The last few jobs the tiles haven't been very flat so had to go 70/30 with 3mm spacer. What would you guys do

brick bond, is 50/50 if tiles are bowed then I suggest keeping the tiles straight...

If they were that bad I would refuse but I see a lot of people staggering 70/30 and was seeing uf some of you guys do the same. I personally hate 70/30 as it loses the affect.

90% of the time I always do a third with brick bond, to counteract discrepancies in tiles and give a bigger joint but that also depends on tiles /client

I tend to do a random bond now on floors and dry lay them prior to fixing, and I've not had a customer not like them fixed like that. You actually get less waste as well laying randomly.

I've got into a habit of laying them random bond also unless client wants brick bond , def a lot less waste and easier to fit if tiles aren't great ! I'd never random fit them on a wall though

it's all 500mm wide but random lengths from 500-800 long. It's an Antiqued limestone.

so... when your laying these do you set out or lay as you go? would think its impossible to set out with these tile accept for the width? cheers

Yeah the one constant is the width which enables u set out one axis. But as far as the other way u can easily work several tiles in each direction or if u have time to survey floor properly u write down where u want certain sizes. Get repetitive with 100m2 floor like that one tho haha. Anything can be done with patience.

I've done a few in last 18 months, it seems very popular in Fulham, either that or the designer is getting a good back hander, cos they've all been for same architectural design company. I like the result tho!

Those were from Mandarin stone...
