Hi.

I've just fitted my shower-bath in place, using a large bead of mastic around the edge to help fix it against the walls.

I am about to tank the area with the BAL Waterproofing kit and I've been told to lay the tape from the rendered wall onto the edge of the bath, by an amount small enough to be covered by the forthcoming tiles. However, It says on the instructions that the tape is used to bridge gaps upto 1.5mm , but some of mine are larger than that due to uneven-ness in the render. Due to the curveness of the bathtop, and the uneven walls, some of the gaps are almost 5mm.

Should I fill up the gap using another bead of mastic ontop of the one that holds my bath to the wall, or should I bridge the gap with the tape without filling the holes with mastic ?

I've attached a picture of what I mean, and shown where the bead of mastic is currently.
Thanks for any advice
