i am doing a 50 mt dark wood effect floor for my daughter.
the tiles are these Oak Wood Tiles | Walls and Floors
ive laid these a few times and used bal micromax2 cocoa, on the other jobs but i am paying for this job and i loath to pay the price this grout costs.
these are only ceramic tiles with no underfloor heating.
anyone have any suggestions for a dark ish brown grout at a sensible price, ideally in 10kg bags.
wallsandfloors do a brown grout but ive no idea what brand it is.
thanks............

The Walls And Floors Multi Grout is made by Palace. But as with any brown grout, you're never going to get a true 100% match for the wood colour. They're always either too orange, too light or in the Multi-Grouts case, too dark.

If you've already got the tiles, I'd pop it along to a local shop and match a sample up to a swatch. And if you can't match the main brown colour, try and match the darker grain lines. You may find that the Mapei Ultracolor Chocolate or anthracite would go well. Or if you want a contrast, limestone and grey are two more popular choices with wood effect, but not to everyones taste. Personal preference and each to their own :)

thanks guys,
paul c, i think i might go for the palace direct from walls and floors.
my daughter wants dark dark, so this will likely be the answer.
id have used grey, as ive also used it in the past and i like the contrast.
i hate brown with a passion, ever since i was a kid tiler and it all but destroyed my brand new sponges and squeegee.
thanks for the advice everyone.

Mapei's last lot of 7 colours they released were specifically for the various shades of wood effect plank tiles that are so popular now. Mud's another great one. More natural than brown, greys or anthracite.

I always think a dark grey like Mapeii anthracite looks best with plank tiles. They're meant to look like wood and the 114 ages the floor naturally. A similar colour such as brown in this case can make the floor look artificial and laminatey
I've always thought. I should hide. rows of tiles .....
and homogenize. color tiles and grouting. same .
I always wrong then?
