I think it's beauty is taken for granted by those of us who live there. We forget about the parks, history, woodland etc that we have in the city.

Did you know the small islands in the firth or forth are actually man made and were made to mimic the silhouette of WW2 ships as a deterrent to Nazi invaders

Go to Victoria Street off the grassmarket and head to a place called Oink.

A roll filled with stuffing or haggis, apple or cranberry sauce and then piled with the juciest, tender pulled pork and gravy with crackling

I'm hungry now...

For those who don't know.............Niddrie makes Afganistan a desirable place. :lol:, and my wifes from Niddrie.

That bakery does loverly coconut cream buns, but I haven't been up to Edinburgh for about 3 years. Due up in March for a long weekend, and everytime we come up...........we end up getting steaming. Wifes family don't need much of an excuse for a party. So Niddrie/Afgan here I come. Spare liver packed already. :8:

niddrie is quite the palace now cj,i did a job in niddrie green last year and well lets just say it was interesting lol

they have flattened a lot of the original niddrie and the shops etc and re built,i went in to take pics one day for flikr ,to be honest i think its disgusting what some people have to live in. there was an old drunk gadgy wandering around he had his trousers hanging off him held up with rope and half naked kids running around in nappies on the road......the worst part of niddrie ive ever seen tbh and it was all hidden away from sight

i lived there,it wasnt till i was walking to the shop one day and a dining room chair came through the persons main living room window and landed in the garden followed by an entourage of neandrathol scrappers that i realised i may have made an error on buying a house there lol

Niddrie is the pits mind...........lot of it was getting pulled down the last time I was up, but that was Craigmillar end.....now THAT is a scenic place.

The Mother in law still lives in Niddrie mill place...........wot a &(%£ hole.

Tbh there is a HUGE amount of development going on right along that road from peffermill industrial up towards newcraighall.

Pilton is fun.
I did a job down there, used to get dropped off in the morning and picked up later.
I was told by the locals not to park my car as the wheels wouldn't be on it when I returned.
